ARC Review: Until You (The Redemption #1) by K. Bromberg.

Synopsis: A single dad, forced proximity, standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg.

Crew Madden needs to find a place to recover.
For his twin girls.
For himself.

From the woman who left them without a backward glance.

Recovering from a traumatic event, a summer in the small town of Redemption Falls was the perfect solution for him. For his family. The only drawback? The rental cottage at the end of the drive.

But then he met its tenant.

The quiet, guarded, sexy-as-sin woman who took Crew’s breath away.

Tennyson West moved to Redemption Falls to hide.
From her previous world of abundance.
From the woman she used to be.
For a chance to start over . . . and be free.

She’s settled into her new life on the outskirts of a small town, content with her solitude. Her peaceful life.

And then she met her new landlord.

Crew Madden—and his sweet daughters—entered her life with a bang. She learned how to laugh again, to love again, something she never thought would be possible.

It was only meant to be a summer fling, but as demons from their past knocked on the door, their relationship was tested. Was their love strong enough to keep them together or would danger drive them apart for good?

Review:

So, as I said Until You is the first novel in Bromberg’s new series called The Redemption. This one is focused on Crew Madden, a single dad recovering from a traumatic work event who is determined to give the best life to his twins (especially after their mother leaves them), and Tennyson West, his mysterious tenant who is only looking to start over and be free. And what starts as what seems to be a summer fling, turns into so much more when feelings get in the way.

Crew Madden is a police officer in Chicago whose life has been turned upside down. The woman he thought was his forever walks out on him and his twin girls, and then a traumatic event finishes him off. He needs some time away from all the chaos of the city to recover and get himself together. He decides to spend the summer at his uncle’s home in Redemption Falls. It was a place he loved to visit as a child but hasn’t been back to in at least twenty years. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. He needed an escape from the continual reminder everywhere he turned of how his life had fallen apart.

Tenny is a mysterious, guarded introvert that moved to a small town to hide from her past. She’d made a lot of changes, and enjoyed her solitude. She wanted a fresh start and a chance to live life on her own terms. She craved peace and quiet and kept to herself. She liked the simplicity and slower pace of Redemption Falls. She’d lived there for almost two years and had become content with her life.

I was hooked right away by the top-notch world-building in this book. The characters are so authentic and relatable. From Chapter 1 on, the relationship between Crew and his daughters, Paige and Addy was awe-inspiring—cute and funny, loving and supportive, and emotionally true. The “trust fall” will stick with me for a long time. I also appreciate the way his PTSD was portrayed and not brushed aside. My dad suffered from it due to his military service, and it’s not something that just goes away after a few weeks. While Crew’s nightmares make for emotional scenes, they brought so much to the book and his growth as a person and with Tenny. I also loved the suspense angle regarding what Tenny was running from, although at times I was getting impatient waiting to find out more information! 😂 Honestly, I enjoyed everything about this book— the relationship Tenny developed with Addy and Paige, how funny the twins were, the super hot chemistry between Crew and Jenny, and the plot twists that I wasn’t expecting!! I can’t wait for more from Redemption Falls!
