Their romance is so cute and funny, with her being so curious yet innocent and him being this big bad wolf but with a heart of gold. This book is so angsty and the romance is one of the reasons why I couldn’t put this down. Although it’s a bit cliche at some points it’s so addictive and I loved it.
Tender moments, steamy moments, action-packed moments, fierce moments, heart-stopping moments, moments that will be engrained into my brain forever and serve as the driving force for the next personality I’ll steal from a fictional character — this romance has it all.
Poppy and Casteel are absolutely one of my favorite bookish couples. I think the development of their relationship is so incredibly done. They really are so well-suited. Casteel gives Poppy the freedom of choice that she so desperately needs and Poppy gives Casteel the love and support that he needs. They both manage to know exactly what the other needs when they need it. And their sexual chemistry is nothing short of perfect. I loved that even in the most serious of moments, they are joking and being completely inappropriate with one another. It’s just so fitting for who their characters are and how they are together.
“Your heart, Poppy? It is a gift I do not deserve.” He placed his hands on his knees as he lifted his gaze to mine. “But it is one I will protect until my dying breath.”
