Series Spotlight 01: Origin.

Hello, my bookish friends!

Welcome to this new series on my blog, I hope you find it fun because I had a lot of fun making it. First things first, let me explain.

This new series will be monthly. I will make a new post each month and each one will be about a series I loved reading and I want to make more people read it. Be prepared there is gonna be a lot of JLA books.

So let’s get into it!

Origin series

by Jennifer L.Armentrout

Books: 3 Books (4th final out in 2023)

Genre: YA, Paranormal

This series is a spin-off to the Lux series by JLA and I highly recommend reading the LUX series first because these are directly connected. We also see many characters from Lux make appearances in this series.

This series is from the perspective of Evelyn (Evie) Dasher who meets Luc (who we know from the Lux series). You see all the characters from the Lux series, so it is like a reunion of sorts. It takes place 4 years after the events of Opposition. It contains three novels so far, The Darkest Star, The Burning Shadow, and The Brightest Night. Jennifer did announce a fourth book, The Fevered Winter, which was going to release in 2021 but was delayed due to the state of the world. It is now set for late 2022/2023.

Synopsis: When seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher is caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen…but he is in fact something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she’d only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head…

News on Book 4 (The Fevered Winter) the final book:

Initially the book was going to be published in 2021, but Jennifer announced it was delayed due to the current state of the world, and the fact that the series was building up to include a massive worldwide, deadly pandemic, a virus created by shadowy government figures, and the subject of vaccines. Although the book was planned years ago and was not inspired by recent events, the author didn’t feel comfortable continuing with that plotline which caused her to have to change a lot of the material. It will now be published sometime in 2023, toward the middle of the year or even the fall.

ā€œWhat do you want?ā€ he asked, his gaze holding mine.
ā€œYou,ā€ I whispered, cheeks burning.
ā€œYou have me.ā€ His thumb dragged along my lower lip. ā€œYou’ve always had me. Always.ā€

The Darkest Star

ā€œA Luxen didn’t kiss you, Evie. His lips brushed mine. But neither did a human.ā€

The Darkest Star

ā€œThere is only you and me. Boyfriend. Girlfriend. Mates. Lovers,ā€ he said, and muscles low in my stomach curled tight. ā€œI don’t care what you call me as long as you call me yours.ā€

The Burning Shadow

ā€œI am not walking away again. If I kiss you, if I touch you again, I will not be able to go back to the way things are now.ā€ The next breath he took trembled as much as I was. ā€œI won’t be able to pretend that you aren’t my everythingā€.ā€

The Burning Shadow

ā€œI love you, Evie. I fell in love with you within the first week I met you. I loved you before I even knew what that meant, and I loved you even when you were gone, and I loved you when you became someone else,ā€ he said— pleaded, really. ā€œAnd I fell even more in love with you when you walked through the doors of Foretoken. I’ve never stopped loving you. I never will.ā€
